Jazeera Airways reports Q1 2013 Operational Performance

Freedom Town, Kuwait, May 19, 2013: Jazeera Airways today released its Q1 2013 Operational Performance Report showing a 5% increase in passenger number from the same quarter last year, and a continued lead in on-time performance (OTP) against all other airlines in the Middle East with a 94% performance, as ranked by the independent US-based OTP tracker FlightStats.

The Q1 report, which presents market share figures based on official statistics from Kuwait’s Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the months of January, February and March, showed that the increase in total passengers on Jazeera Airways was driven by an increase in passengers on routes serving Beirut, Jeddah, Assiut, Luxor, Sohag, Amman and Bahrain.

The airline also saw a 12% increase in passenger traffic in the month of March 2013 in comparison to the same month last year. The increase was led by increased traffic on routes from Kuwait serving Dubai, Bahrain, Jeddah, Cairo, Assiut, Luxor, and Sohag.

Jazeera Airways reported in its March 2013 Operational Performance Report that the number of passengers on routes serving high demand business and leisure Gulf destinations of Dubai, Bahrain and Jeddah increased by 13%, 32% and 23% respectively from March 2012.

Jazeera Airways was also the leading Kuwaiti airline on routes serving Dubai and Bahrain in March 2013. The airline grabbed a 15% market share on the Kuwait-Dubai route, and an 11% market share on the Kuwait-Bahrain route. It was also the leading Kuwaiti airline in March on routes serving tourists and expatriate destinations to Beirut with a 40% market share, Amman with a 37% market share, and Alexandria with a 20% market share.

On other Egyptian routes, the airline saw an increase of 8% in passenger numbers on the Kuwait-Cairo route in March 2013 compared to the same period last year, 56% on the Kuwait-Assiut route, 73% on the Kuwait-Luxor route, and 69% on the Kuwait-Sohag route.  Jazeera Airways was the leading airline serving Assiut, Luxor, and Sohag with a 57%, 73% and 49% market share respectively.

Jazeera Airways’ operational report for March 2013 also included the airline’s continued lead in on-time performance (OTP) against all other airlines in the Middle East, with a 95% performance as ranked by the independent US-based OTP tracker FlightStats.
