Jazeera Airways reports on December and full year 2012 Operational Performance

Freedom Town, Kuwait, March 11, 2013: Award-winning Jazeera Airways today issued its December 2012 and full year 2012 Operational Performance Reports which showed that the airline has grabbed increasing market shares to popular destinations of Amman and four cities in Egypt, as well as increasing number of passengers to Dubai and Jeddah.

The report, which presents market share figures based on official statistics from Kuwait’s Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA), also showed that the airline continued to have market share lead on key routes, and a continued lead in on-time performance (OTP) against all other airlines in the Middle East in December 2012, and against all other airlines in the world in 2012, as ranked by the independent US-based OTP tracker FlightStats. The airline’s OTP for both the month of December and the year 2012 was 93.71%.

The report also showed that Jazeera Airways continued to be the leading airline serving the Kuwait-Amman route in December 2012, grabbing a 41% market share during the month, a 7% increase from December 2011.  Passengers on the route also continued to increase by 31% from December 2011. Overall in 2012, Jazeera Airways grabbed a 37% market share on the route, up 5% from 2011.

Jazeera Airways also grabbed a 17% market share on the Kuwait-Dubai route during December 2012, followed by a 4% increase in passengers from the previous month, and a 9% increase in passengers from December 2011. Jazeera Airways was the leading Kuwaiti airline serving the Kuwait-Dubai route in December 2012 and throughout 2012.

In December 2012, passengers between Kuwait and popular Egyptian expats destinations of Assiut and Sohag, as well as Egypt’s famed tourist destination of Luxor increased respectively by 25%, 44% and 43%. Jazeera Airways was once again the leading airline serving these routes. In 2012, Jazeera Airways also grabbed the leading market share of 59% on the Kuwait-Sharm El Sheikh route.

On routes serving KSA, Jazeera Airways saw a 46% increase in number of passengers on the Kuwait-Jeddah route in December 2012 from December 2011, that led to a 15% market share on the route, up 3% from December 2011. The number of passengers on the Kuwait-Riyadh route also increased in December 2012 by 12% from December 2011.

Other report highlights include that the airline was the leading Kuwaiti airline to the high-demand destinations of Beirut and Bahrain in December 2012, with 38% and 11% market shares respectively.

In 2012, Jazeera Airways continued to grow market share on its one and half year old Kuwait-Cairo route launched in May 2011. The airline grabbed a 27% market share in 2012 on the route, with an 11% increase in number of passengers.
