Freedom Town, Kuwait- April 2, 2011 – Award winning airline Jazeera Airways, today issued its February 2011 operational performance report, which showed that the airline had a 35% share of travel between Amman and Kuwait, making it the second largest operator on the route. The airline operates daily flights between Amman and Kuwait.
Network-wide, Jazeera Airways had carried 89,661 passengers in February, securing it a continued lead in market share for the 20th month in-a-row, ahead of all other Kuwaiti airlines on the majority of routes served.
The monthly report said the airline carried 28,141 passengers between Kuwait and the Levant region, 20,001 passengers between Kuwait and Egypt, and 38,843 passengers between Kuwait and other Gulf countries during the month of February.
The company has secured a month-on-month lead in market share since July 2009 thanks to its expanding value offering to customers. This lead grew stronger with the company’s Turn-Around Plan that was successfully introduced in May 2010 to address the overcapacity in the market, and has consequently beaten analyst expectations for every quarter since then. Jazeera Airways reported a third quarter (Q3) net profit of KD4.4 million, the airline’s best Q3 on record, and a fourth quarter (Q4) net profit of KD2 million, making the second half of 2010 the airline’s best second half since 2008.
The today-issued report is based on data from Kuwait’s Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA). The report does not include the Kuwait-Jeddah and Kuwait-Riyadh routes, where the airline has lower seat-allocation restrictions compared to other Kuwaiti airlines.
In addition to the Amman-Kuwait route, Jazeera Airways also captured the largest market share on routes operated between Kuwait and the Levant region. The airline grabbed a 31% share of travel between Beirut and Kuwait, a 44% share of travel between Damascus and Kuwait, and a 100% share of travel between Kuwait and the Syrian cities of Aleppo and Deir Ezzor.
Jazeera Airways also captured the largest market share on routes operated between Kuwait and Egypt, grabbing a 49% share travel between Alexandria and Kuwait, a 78% share of travel between Assiut and Kuwait, a 92.6% share of travel between Luxor and Kuwait, and a 44% share of travel between Sohaj and Kuwait.
The report also showed that Jazeera Airways was the largest Kuwaiti operator between Bahrain and Kuwait during the month, with a 19% market share.
Jazeera Airways operated the month with an on-time performance of 94%, making it one of the most punctual airlines in the Middle East.
