Jazeera Airways issues June 2011 operational performance report

Freedom Town, Kuwait, 10 July 2011: Award-winning airline Jazeera Airways, the largest airline serving the Middle East out of Kuwait, today issued its monthly operational performance report for June 2011, which showed that the airline continues to lead in market share on most of the routes it operates for two years in a row.

The company secured a month-on-month lead in market share since July 2009 thanks to its expanding value offering to customers, great schedules, and operating at high on-time performance of XX% during the month, making the airline one of the most punctual airlines in the Middle East.

During the first half of the year, Jazeera Airways carried a total of 556,152 passengers. The airline carried 85,937 passengers in January 2011, 89,661 in February 2011, 84,606 passengers in March 2011, 86,420 passengers in April 2011 and 90,530 passengers in May 2011.

The monthly report showed that the airline carried 118,998 passengers in June 2011, with 29,883 passengers between Kuwait and the Levant region, 39,069 passengers between Kuwait and Egypt, 44,754 passengers between Kuwait and other Gulf countries, and 5,292 passengers between Kuwait and other destinations.

The today-issued report is based on data from Kuwait’s Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA).  The report does not include the Kuwait-Jeddah and Kuwait-Riyadh routes, where the airline has lower seat-allocation restrictions compared to other Kuwaiti airlines.

The report also shows that Jazeera Airways captured the largest market share on routes operated between Kuwait and other Egyptian cities, grabbing a 36% market share on the Kuwait-Alexandria route, a 70% market share on the Kuwait-Sharm El Sheikh route, a 65% market share on the Kuwait-Assiut route, a 85% on the Kuwait-Luxor route, and a 38% market share on the Kuwait-Sohag route.

The June 2011 report also includes the airline’s first full month operational performance on the Kuwait-Cairo route launched on May 18th.  Jazeera Airways operated ten flights per week to the Egyptian capital, and now operates 21 flights per week since June 21. Jazeera Airways grabbed a 23% market share on the Kuwait-Cairo route.

Jazeera Airways was the largest Kuwaiti airline on majority routes operated between Kuwait and popular summer destinations in the Levant region with a 31% market share on the Kuwait-Amman route, a 36% market share on the Kuwait-Beirut route.

The report also showed that Jazeera Airways grabbed the largest market shares to cities in Syria with a 54% market share on the Kuwait-Damascus route, a 70% market share on the Kuwait-Aleppo route, and a 84% market share on the Kuwait-Deir Ezzor route.

The airline was also the largest Kuwaiti operator and the second largest operator to Bahrain during the month of June with a 22% market share, and the largest Kuwaiti airline to Dubai with an 18% market share.
