-Airline only operator to serve Kuwait-Aleppo and Kuwait-Deir Ezzor routes

Freedom Town, March 28, 2011 – Award winning airline Jazeera Airways today issued its February 2011 operational performance report, which showed that it has captured leading market shares on Kuwait-Syria route, with a 44% market share on the Kuwait-Damascus route, a 100% market share on the Kuwait-Aleppo and Kuwait-Deir Ezzor routes – Jazeera Airways is the only airline operating between Kuwait and Aleppo, and Kuwait and Deir Ezzor.

In February 2011, Jazeera Airways carried 14,631 to and from Syria, with 10,068 between Kuwait and Damascus, 1,395 passengers between Kuwait and Aleppo, and 3,168 between Kuwait and Deir Ezzor.

Jazeera Airways also had a continued lead in market share for the 20th month in a row, ahead of all other Kuwaiti airlines on routes served in the month.

The company was successful in securing this month-on-month performance streak since July 2009, and equally successful in growing the gap with the introduction of the company’s Turn-Around Plan in May 2010.

Since then, Jazeera Airways has also performed financially while beating analyst expectations for the last two quarters of 2010.  In November, the airline announced a third quarter (Q3) net profit of KD4.4, its best Q3 on record.  In February 2011, the airline announced a fourth quarter (Q4) net profit of KD 1.2 million, making the second half of 2010 the airline’s best second half since 2008.

The today-issued report is based on data from Kuwait’s Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA).  The report does not include the Kuwait-Jeddah and Kuwait-Riyadh routes, where the airline has lower seat-allocation restrictions compared to other Kuwaiti airlines.

Report highlights:
