Jazeera Airways closes another month as the largest operator on Kuwait-Egypt routes served in February 2011

#1 to Alexandria, #1 to Assiut, #1 to Luxor, #1 to Sohaj

Freedom Town, March 28, 2011 – Award winning airline Jazeera Airways today issued its February 2011 operational performance report, which showed that the airline was the largest operator on Kuwait-Egypt routes served in February 2011, grabbing a 49% market share on the Kuwait-Alexandria route, a 78% on the Kuwait-Assiut route, a 92.6% on the Kuwait-Luxor route, and a 44% on the Kuwait-Sohaj route.

The report also showed that the company had a continued lead in market share ahead of all other Kuwaiti airlines for the 20th month in a row on routes served in the month.

Jazeera Airways carried 20,001 passengers between Egypt and Kuwait during the month of February, with 8,082 between Alexandria and Kuwait, 3,689 between Assiut and Kuwait, 4,793 between Luxor and Kuwait, and 3,402 between Sohaj and Kuwait.

The company was successful in securing this month-on-month performance streak since July 2009, and equally successful in growing the gap with the introduction of the company’s Turn-Around Plan in May 2010.

Since then, Jazeera Airways has also performed financially while beating analyst expectations for the last two quarters of 2010.  In November, the airline announced a third quarter (Q3) net profit of KD4.4, its best Q3 on record.  In February 2011, the airline announced a fourth quarter (Q4) net profit of KD 1.2 million, making the second half of 2010 the airline’s best second half since 2008.

The today-issued report is based on data from Kuwait’s Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA).  The report does not include the Kuwait-Jeddah and Kuwait-Riyadh routes, where the airline has lower seat-allocation restrictions compared to other Kuwaiti airlines.

The report also highlighted that Jazeera Airways captured the largest market share on routes operated between Kuwait and Levant region, capturing a 31% market share on the Kuwait-Beirut route, a 35% market share on the Kuwait-Amman route, a 44% market share on the Kuwait-Damascus route, and a 100% market share on the Kuwait-Aleppo route – Jazeera Airways is the only airline operating between Kuwait and Aleppo.

The report also showed that Jazeera Airways was the largest Kuwaiti operator to Bahrain, with a 19% market share.

Jazeera Airways operated the month with an on-time performance of 94%, making it one of the most punctual airlines in the Middle East for the 20th month in a row
