IATA grants Jazeera Airways IOSA certification for having world class operational standards

Freedom Town, Kuwait – May 1, 2011– Award-winning Jazeera Airways today announced that it passed the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), the airline industry’s benchmark operational safety audit, placing the airline on par with the best airlines in the world.

IOSA’s six-month evaluation of Jazeera Airways operational and control systems showed that the airline conforms and implements the international standards set by IOSA operational standards, in all operations sectors including airports, flight deck, cabins, and maintenance and engineering.

Jazeera Airways VP Maintenance and Engineering, Abdullah Al Hudaid said: “Jazeera Airways has passed a significant milestone with this internationally-recognized accreditation. This is a testament that Jazeera Airways is up there with the best airlines in the world.”

Initiated in 2001, the IOSA audit is an international evaluation system precursor for airlines to become an IATA member. IATA provides an airline a wide-range of operational benefits and opportunities, including code sharing with other IATA member airlines, pooling maintenance and engineering activities, and accessing certain markets limited to IATA member airlines.

There are currently 357 airlines registered in IOSA alongside Jazeera Airways.

IOSA’s quality audit principles are designed to conduct audits in a standardized manner and provide airlines with cost-effective benefits and the implementation of the best operational safety measures and practices.

IOSA certified Jazeera Airways after it complied and demonstrated full conformity with the following eight IOSA standards:

  • Corporate Organization & Management
  • Flight Operations
  • Operational Control/Flight Dispatch
  • Aircraft Engineering & Maintenance
  • Cabin Operations
  • Aircraft Ground Handling
  • Cargo Operations
  • Operational Security
